How the prints are made:

All of the prints offered by Xylografi Press are the original art of Dave Glentz Brush. Each image is either drawn or brushed directly on a block of wood or linoleum (for single color images), or a rough outline is sketched on paper and transferred to multiple blocks (for multi color images).

The image is then carved with a variety of knives and gouges allowing the pencil lines and the material itself to dictate what is carved. As the carving progresses a series of rubbings and proof prints are made to help visualize the end result.

Once the blocks are carved they are printed one at a time - one color at a time - on a vintage 1880’s Chandler and Price Pilot Press.

The finished print is a mirror image of the block.
